Quilting By Kathy is a machine quilting service based in Johns Creek, GA exclusively offering custom designs. Kathy will machine quilt any quilt up to 60" x 80". Unlike other longarmers, Kathy quilts on a table-top machine. The final look is the same, but the process of sandwiching the quilt and working with it as it is stitched is quite different. Kathy also hand guides all of her work -- no computerized programs. Because all work is hand guided, every quilt design is unique to your quilt!
Kathy will work with you to choose a quilting design, or you can answer a few basic questions and she will work up something extra special just for your quilt. Kathy's work is very versatile, so any kind of stitching from relatively simple to highly detailed,
or even custom words, names or dates are possible.

About Kathy
I have been sewing my entire life. My mom, an expert seamstress, first taught me to sew when I was in elementary school. In the mid-1970s I took a beginning quilting class and I've been quilting ever since. Several years ago, as I was caring for my elderly parents, I needed a creative outlet to help me deal with the stress. I purchased a mid-arm quilting machine and practiced, practiced, and practiced for hours at a time. I also took every quilting class I could find. Because of my sewing background I found that the art of machine quilting came fairly quickly to me. (But that's not to say it is easy!).
Quilting frees my mind to play and create new things. There's something new to discover every time I sit down with a quilt.

Pricing & Services

1. My standard quilting fee is 4 cents per square inch. The cost is calculated by multiplying the width of the quilt in inches by the length of the quilt in inches by .04. Sample sizes and prices are as follows.

Baby quilt (36X54) $77
Lap quilt (54X72) $155
Throw (60X80) $192
2. I can provide the batting, or I will accept most battings you choose and provide. I use Warm and Natural Cotton Batting. I charge a rate based on my latest bolt purchase. Historically, I have charged $7 or $8 per yard.
3. I can apply the binding, if desired. You provide the binding material. Cost is 10 cents per perimeter inch. All backs are hand stitched.
